Michelle 'Mitzi' Koebernick
Board Secretary
My Story
After completing the Medical Records program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), Michelle—known to friends and colleagues as “Mitzi” — began a career devoted to data-driven, patient-centred healthcare. Her academic training in health-information management laid the foundation for a deep understanding of clinical documentation, privacy legislation, and workflow optimization within hospital settings.

Today Michelle serves as Health Information Manager at the Drayton Valley Hospital, where she oversees the integrity, security, and accessibility of medical records for thousands of patients each year. In this role she leads multidisciplinary teams, implements electronic-records initiatives, and ensures compliance with provincial and federal standards—work that is critical to the hospital’s quality-of-care mandate and operational efficiency.

Outside of the hospital, Michelle is a familiar face in the community. A passionate traveller when time allows, she also channels her energy into local organizations: the Drayton Valley Curling Club, Oil Wives Association, and Drayton Valley Ladies Golf League all benefit from her hands-on approach to event planning, member engagement, and fundraising.
